A Quick Note From Coach Brett

Hey CFC Crew,

I just wanted to send you all a quick note regarding the recently wrapped up Sectionals competition. Sectionals is one of those things that can take us a little outside of our comfort zone. The reality, however, is that every day in Crossfit, is a chance like this. This means that you each do this every day, whether you see it like this or not.
Yesterday’s WOD involved maximum height box jumps and many of you including myself, had to overcome the fear of hoping up to a seemingly spindling, scary platform that just felt too high, but, you all did it. It is amazing how fast your heart can beat, just standing in front of a box! The result, however, after finding yourself on top, makes the whole endeavour well worthwhile.
Many of you took the opportunity to move outside of your comfort zone by competing in the Sectionals. Many of you choose to support your fellow members by spectating and cheering or by following our member’s progress online and commenting. Regardless of how you became involved I want to personally thank you for your participation. Just like the classes, we all feel the support and energy behind us and this is what makes it such an amazing shared experience.
Today is a great time to start getting ready for next year’s competition. As you saw from the testimonials above, truly remarkable things can happen when you put yourself out there. Remember, we do this every day!
See you ALL next year,
Coach.

The western Canadian CrossFit qualifiers for 2009 took place on May 2nd and 3rd at CrossFit Calgary HQ.  The qualifier which occured over a period of 2 days was an opportunity for everyone interested to test their level of fitness – CrossFit style.

It was a competition to determine 3 males and 3 females that will represent western Canada at the CF Games in July in Aromas, California but as with CrossFit philosophy, it was also an opportunity to share in a great weekend with all other exercise enthusiasts. All workouts could be scaled but one must complete all workouts without scaling in order to qualify for the CF games in July.

As in our belief, these games are for EVERYONE of all abilities; if you think they are only for high level fitness enthusiasts you are mistaken. We believe in our teaching as well as in our competitions that CrossFit is for all, and that the competition differs by degree only, not kind.
